How We Test

In short

How we test casinos comes down to one idea: meet Razed the way a New Zealand player does, through sign-up, cashier, lobby, live chat and bonus terms, and date every check. Withdrawal speed is reported as the median of our own timings, never the best case.

Who we are

This site covers one casino, Razed, for one audience, players in New Zealand. That narrow focus lets the testing go deep instead of wide.

Every guide is written and signed by Mark Johnson, a casino review expert with more than six years of hands-on work. He is the only named person here. The rest of the work sits with two fixed desks, each with its own checklist, so the eyes that read the welcome terms are not the ones that sign off the payments page.

  • MJ

    Casino Review Expert

Writes the guides, runs the account and lobby checks and settles the final wording of each verdict.

  • Payments desk

    Deposits and withdrawals

Works through the cashier as a player would: which methods appear for New Zealand, how fiat money comes back and how long each withdrawal takes.

    • Cards
    • Crypto
    • Timings
  • Terms and safety check

    Licence, bonus rules, limits

Reads the bonus and general terms in full, finds the licence on the regulator's register and tries each responsible gambling tool.

    • Limits

The desks are roles, not personalities, so they carry no bylines. Their findings go into Mark's text, and the dates at the foot of each page show when it was last checked.

Test protocol

Our protocol follows the path a real player takes, in the same order, because problems usually appear at the hand-offs: between sign-up and the first deposit, or between a cleared bonus and the first cash-out.

  1. Open an account from New Zealand

A normal NZ connection, no VPN, NZD where offered. We note every question the form asks and confirm New Zealand is not on the restricted list.

  2. Deposit the way Kiwis do

At Razed that means Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, Paysafecard or crypto. We check which methods an NZ account sees and whether the balance lands in the right currency.

  3. Play across the lobby

Slots from several studios, Razed Originals such as Plinko and Mines, and a live table, all on a phone browser as well as a laptop.

  4. Ask live chat real questions

Questions with a checkable answer, such as how the welcome spins are credited or how to set a loss limit, compared with the help centre.

  5. Request a withdrawal and time it

The clock runs from the moment the request is submitted until the money arrives, not until the casino marks it as sent. Method, date and any verification pause are recorded.

  6. Hold the bonus terms to the account

We compare the published rules with what the wagering counter shows and how a withdrawal request behaves while a bonus is active.

Withdrawal timing gets the strictest rule. One fast payout proves little, and one slow one may just be a weekend. When we have several timings for a method, we report the median, the middle value, rather than the quickest, because a single outlier cannot drag it around. Every timing keeps its date and is retired once the cashier changes.

Razed does not publish payout times, so no figure appears on our pages until enough dated timings stand behind a median. Until then we describe the rules that shape the wait: fiat withdrawals return to the deposit method, deposits must be wagered once first, crypto withdrawals have no maximum, and identity checks start past a threshold set in the terms. The verification guide covers that step.

The dated work so far: on 30 September 2026 the brand facts were checked against the Anjouan register, the Razed help centre and archived Razed terms, and on 1 October 2026 we confirmed that razed.com, the help centre and the image server were reachable.

How we fix mistakes

Casinos change terms, add payment methods and move offers around, so any guide can fall behind. When something here proves wrong, the page is corrected first and the Updated date moves to the day of the fix. The Checked date moves only when a fact was actually checked again.

The full correction process - how a report is confirmed, which source wins when two disagree and how changes are logged - lives on our fact-checking page.

A fact that can no longer be confirmed comes off the page rather than being reworded until it sounds safe.

Scoring criteria with weights

Every finding feeds one of six criteria. The weights follow what costs a New Zealand player most when it goes wrong: money in and out first, fair bonus rules next, lobby polish later.

  • Payments and withdrawals25%
NZ methods, fees, limits and the median time from request to arrival.
  • Bonus terms in practice20%
Wagering, time limits, max bet and max cashout, and whether the account follows them.
  • Licence and player safety20%
A licence on the regulator's register, plus working limits, breaks and self-exclusion.
  • Games and studios15%
Slots, live tables and originals from known studios, with rules visible before you bet.
  • Support quality10%
Live chat hours and whether answers match the help centre.
  • Mobile and account10%
Sign-up, loading and settings on a phone browser.

The weights never change between pages, so a strong lobby cannot hide a weak cashier. We do not boil the result down to stars or a single number; each guide says in plain words where Razed shines for Kiwis and what to watch. The welcome offer is a good example: a 100% match with Sugar Rush 1000 spins over five days, where the 40x wagering on deposit plus bonus within 7 days is exactly what the bonus criterion weighs.

Myths about casino testing

A few ideas about how we test casinos, and how reviewers in general do it, keep coming up. Knowing which ones hold water helps you read any guide more critically, ours included.

"A real test needs a big deposit"

The route matters more than the amount. A modest deposit shows the cashier, the currency handling and the withdrawal rules just as clearly, as long as every step is done, dated and written down.

"Quote the fastest payout"

One quick withdrawal makes a nice headline and a poor promise. We give the median of several dated timings or say "not published".

"If the homepage says it, it is a fact"

Banners are marketing written for every country at once. The rules that apply to you sit in the terms, the help centre and an NZ cashier. Even the licence is read on the Anjouan register, where Razed holds ALSI-132405034-FI3, valid to 27 May 2027.

Common mistakes when judging a casino

Players burned somewhere else often judge the next casino on the wrong signals. These are the slips we see most, with the check that avoids each one.

  • Reading the match, not the wagering - at Razed the 40x covers deposit plus bonus and runs for 7 days, so plan your sessions before you opt in.
  • Forgetting the max bet - a maximum stake applies while a bonus is active. Check it in the bonus terms before raising your bet.
  • Expecting a different payout method - fiat withdrawals go back to the deposit method, so pay in with the card or wallet you want to be paid to.
  • Leaving verification until a win - checks follow activity, not luck. Documents ready in advance keep a cash-out moving.
  • Blaming the casino for a VPN block - an overseas VPN exit can make the site refuse you. Switch it off before deciding Razed is at fault.

Ten minutes with the terms and the cashier before your first deposit covers the most useful part of our protocol. If the offer suits how you play, open the Razed lobby and look at the cashier for an NZ account before committing any money.

Contacts

We cannot see or change anything inside a Razed account, so questions about your balance, bonus or verification belong with Razed. Sending each question to the right place gets the quickest answer.

  • Your Razed account

Razed's 24/7 live chat on the site, or the help centre at help.razed.com, which opens a chat with the same team.

  • An error on this site

Every page is compared with its sources again on each scheduled check, and a confirmed error is fixed with a new Updated date.

  • Worried about gambling

Free, confidential NZ help from the Gambling Helpline and the PGF.
